Q: What are the benefits of membership?

A: Members:

• Receive biweekly email digests with news on conferences, job/student opportunities, and other information pertinent to our field.
• Receive discounted registration at SMPC conferences.
• Faculty members can request to be included in the SMPC Map of Music Cognition and Music Psychology Labs.
• Members can be nominated for various society awards including research awards and travel grants.
• Trainees (student and post-doc members) have access to various mentorship initiatives including our recently launched Pilot Research Grant

Q: What are the membership fees?

A: $40 for a two-year membership.

Q: When are meetings held?

A: Meetings are held every 2 years. Meeting information is in the events page.

Q:Who might consider being a member?

A: Researchers, students, or others interested in the study of music cognition.

Q:How and when are board members elected?

A: Positions on the board are filled every two years, as member terms expire. Nominees must be SMPC members in good standing (self-nominations are accepted). Voting is handled by the SMPC secretary using an anonymous, web-based system.
