Society for Music Perception and Cognition Committees
The Society for Music Perception and Cognition standing committees aid in carrying out the regular business of the organization. Responsibilities for each committee are outlined by section 7 of the SMPC bylaws. The committees consist of a chair and 2 or more members appointed for 1-2 years by the SMPC President in consultation with SMPC Board.
Mentorship Committee

Our aim is to envision, plan, and deliver programming with the goal of creating and sustaining robust mentorship networks within the SMPC membership.
We also manage the Student Research Award, Mentorship Award, and Childcare/Travel grants.

The Mentorship Committee is chaired by a member of the SMPC Executive board and comprises at least one Trainee member, Board members, and SMPC members selected by the Mentorship Committee. Any SMPC member in good-standing may self-nominate to be on the Mentorship committee.

Our aim is to envision, plan, and deliver sustained programming with the goal of transforming SMPC into an anti-racist and equitable organization, as described in our recent editorial on Embracing Anti-Racist Practices in the Music Perception and Cognition Community.
